My career in education began as a school counselor.  I worked in alternative education there for 18 years, then as a Pupil Personnel Worker. My passion is to give a voice to those who are not heard.   While working for the school system, I have also facilitated a support group for women who had been or were currently involved in unsafe intimate partner relationships, (SWANS-Sisters With a New Swagger). I have also done workshops and training on the topic for the Laurel Police Department and various women’s groups. As a result of my work with at risk middle and high school students, I became involved with organizations and trainings that educate the public about the prevalence and the dangers of human trafficking through organizations such as the Samaritan Women and most recently the Araminta Freedom Initiative. I have presented on sex trafficking for Child Abuse Liaisons in Howard County Public Schools, as well as many churches and other organizations. Most recently I completed my training as a life and health coach.  

As a certified Life and Health coach, my primary focus is helping women who have suffered traumatic, painful or life altering situations to regain their sense of personal power.
